Become an Apprentice
Launch your career in one of Wisconsin’s most respected trades through the Wisconsin Operative Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’ Apprenticeship Program. As the state’s most comprehensive cement masonry training program, we offer a unique “earn while you learn” approach that combines hands-on experience with expert instruction. From day one, you’ll be part of a proud tradition of craftspeople who help build our communities’ schools, freeways, commercial buildings, and skyscrapers.
Our three-year apprenticeship program provides you with all the skills needed to succeed in this rewarding field. Working alongside experienced journeymen at actual job sites, you’ll master concrete placing and finishing while learning crucial safety standards and material science at our state-of-the-art training centers. Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll earn a competitive wage while developing expertise in various aspects of the trade, from pouring concrete floors and walkways to creating steps and performing detailed finishing work.
The path to becoming a Cement Mason is open to anyone 18 or older with a high school diploma or equivalent. We pride ourselves on maintaining a diverse and inclusive environment, welcoming apprentices of all backgrounds. Veterans can use their MGIB benefits while training, and pre-apprenticeship programs are available through WRTP/BIG STEP for those seeking additional preparation. This isn’t just about finding a job – it’s about beginning a lifelong career with excellent earning potential and the satisfaction of helping build your community’s future.
